Newsletter no.2.1

6th September 2007

Hello Members
The season as far as patrols go is about to start and the patrol roster is ready to be sent out to all actives. If you don't get it by the 21st September I suggest you contact David Fleeting to check your membership status.

Fees and Tags
All fees are now overdue. Your tag will be disconnected as of next week. Also there seems to be confusion re tag identification. There is a 3 digit code applicable to each tag. If you don't have that code and I can't identify a tag to a particular individual the tag will be disconnected. I realize that it is an inconvenience but the only way it can be corrected is if you come to the office and the tag is swiped and then identified to you. The office will be operating from next weekend onwards in the mornings.

Golf Day
Members appear not to be interested in the golf day this year. I need definite number by Friday 14th September otherwise the day will be cancelled. It is scheduled for Friday 28th September 2007 at Randwick Golf Club. Hit off will be from 8.00am. Cost will be approximately $35 which will give you a round of golf, a complimentary drink from the bar and a few drinks during the game from our social drink cart. Please book with the ClubÕs office asap.

Renovations - Bar Closed
The renovations continue and hopefully will be finished by the end of the month. Please note the bar is in the process of refurbishment and as such will not be operating for the next 2 weekends, i.e. 9th and 16th September. The power is off so we can't even watch the footy for the TV.

As an alternative why not go to Bronte RSL and see its renovations. They are a sponsor and will welcome all members and friends of the Club. Please pass this information on to the regular Sunday visitors.

Competition
This season Lindsay Cotterill is in charge of all Club competition - from Nippers through to the masters. Therefore if you wish to compete, see Lindsay with carnival and event you wish to enter and he will organize your entry. You will also have to supply him with your proficiency number.

Upcoming carnivals are the Collaroy Endurance on 12th September. Entries need to be with Lindsay by the 9th September. Also check the SLS NSW web site for report times.

The other carnivals coming up are the Coffs Harbour Craft Carnival on 24th November whilst Cronulla also have a carnival on the same date. If you wish to compete see Lindsay.

Club Shop - Website
There seems to be some confusion re the use of the Club shop via the web site. Many people are putting in the wrong date re credit card expiry - we need month and year. Also we need information on what people are ordering.

Club News

  • President Graham Ford is away for several weeks re a holiday and for the rugby world cup. Tony Coates is also about to leave for the same reason. Life member Dennis Milne also left for Switzerland for a 3 week holiday.
  • The surf race will start after the long weekend in October. Race handicapper Barry Brignell will again ensure that your handicap is reasonable. We are also looking for a sponsor for the weekly and monthly prizes. Towels, diners, clothing, etc etc would be much appreciated.
  • The Deltones 50th Anniversary Club ball will be held in May 2008 at the AJC Centre at Randwick. I know it's a long way off but start saving your pennies for what will again prove to be a great night.

Training
Callum Metcalfe will have the Club's training schedule out soon for all courses run by the Club. Also Training Aid Australia (TAA), a Club sponsor, is running first aid courses for members and friends. See TAA's web site, www.trainingaidaustralia.com.au

House Rules
House rules are being prepared and will be displayed in a few weeks time. There is no good bitching about them; we are a licensed club and the appropriate rules apply to us the same as any licensed venue. They will be enforced and duty managers will be appointed.

See you on the beach.
