East
Coast Ocean Challenge
Stephen
Ford and Tom Woodriff started the ECOC endurance craft event last
year to raise money for Bronte Surf Club. They conducted two events,
Round 1 was at Coogee Beach and Round 2 was at Rose Bay. The event
ran successfully and generated a good number of entries for its first
season.
This
season the East Coast Ocean Challenge Round 1 will be held on Sunday
30th of September at Bondi Beach. The event offers two endurance distances
of 10km and 20km to a large range of craft categories being; Surf
skis, Ocean skis, outrigger canoes, ocean kayaks and boards. Most
categories have a male and female division as well as U19 and masters.
The
East Coast Ocean Challenge is one step short of becoming another fund
raising event for the surf club and we would like to ask all members
to assist us by asking around for potential sponsors of this wonderful
sporting event.
Stephen
and Tom are doing their best to advertise the event, marketing it
at all the local paddling squads, listing it on sports calendars and
generally get the word out there to every man, woman and competitor,
however they have not been successful in securing a sponsor yet.
