Annual General Meeting
Welcome to the 2007/2008 season. Things are now going to start ramping up following the successful Annual General Meeting last Sunday. It won't be long before you start patrols and competition - hopefully it will be warmer than it is now.

The annual report is available on the Club's web site and will be posted to those who requested it.

The new Board was elected at the AGM and your representatives are:

President: Graham Ford
Admin Mgr: David Stone
Finance Mgr: Roland Tyrrell
Lifesaving Mgr: David Fleeting
Education Mgr: Callum Metcalfe
Youth Program Mgr: Craig Bartlett
Compet. Mgr: Lindsay Cotterill
Marketing Manager: Coleen O'Neill

Jim Stewart stepped down after many years on the committee and will spend his time as the face of the Club's social scene.

It's also worth noting that President Graham Ford was elected a Life Member of the Club. Proposer Jon Donohoe and seconder Frank Norton spoke eloquently on Graham's achievements within the Club and his contribution to the Club's success. There is no doubt the Club has been a major beneficiary of Graham's dedication and expertise and is a worthy recipient of this honour. Congratulations Graham!

Golf Day
The Club's Golf day is now scheduled for Friday 28th September 2007 at Randwick Golf Club. It's later than previous years due to the APEC conference and course maintenance. Hit off will be from 8.00am. Cost will be approximately $35 which will give you a round of golf, a complimentary drink from the bar and a few drinks during the game from our social drink cart. Please book with the Club's office asap.

New Surf Boat Christening
The Club has purchased 2 new surf boats one of which will be christened and named after Alex Menzies this Sunday 19th August at 3pm. All members are welcome to help Alex celebrate not only his birthday on this day but also the naming of a boat after him. Alex has been a Bronte Boatie for almost - well certainly a long time. So come on down the Club and help Alex celebrate.

Later in the year, the second boat will be christened with the boat to be named after Frank Norton. Details later.

Club News
If any good can come from the passing of a close friend and Club supporter it is in the news that the donation of Rosie Milne's eyes have contributed towards the restoration of sight and relief from pain for 2 recipients. Rosie continues on and what a magnificent gesture from Dennis.

The ground floor refurbishment of the Club is open for discussion. So far we have had 2 workshops for members to attend and give their views. From these workshops a draft plan was prepared and has been on display for 2 weeks. Another workshop is scheduled for Sunday 26th August at 3pm at the Club which will be chaired by Dave Fleeting, our erstwhile chair re club renovations etc. Turn up and put your viewpoint forward.

Speaking of refurbishments, the bar is about to undergo a major change with new equipment and bar top to be installed over the next month. The current gear is just ready to turn up its toes so it's quite timely. It will look good too. It may mean the bar will be out of action for 1 week, but we will still be serving even if it's only stubbies.

The various managers on the board may be seeking assistants shortly. The President will be sending a letter out to all members within the next few weeks with requests for members to get involved. For example we are seeking a member to assist with data entry regarding patrol statistics.

House Rules
House rules are being prepared and will be displayed in a few weeks time. There is no good bitching about them; we are a licensed club and the appropriate rules apply to us the same as any licensed venue. They will be enforced and duty managers will be appointed.

Miscellaneous
Jim & Pat are in Bali with Bob & Kay Holloway. Bluey is off to Canada in a few days for 6 weeks. Bluey was told to be careful of the bears as he will be camping in the mountains. He said there were plenty of signs around and they were with experts and that would keep the bears away. It was explained to him that bears couldn't read.

Most important. Tags are now being disconnected for un-financial members and also those tags that don't have a name against the number. Tags need to be validated otherwise by the end of the week they will not work!

That's all. Remember if you have a query, bitch or general concern, please contact a member of the board or as a last resort contact your friendly chief operating officer in the office.
